MERS infection

A 58-year-old woman died of acuter respiration failure after testing positive for MERS on Monday - making her the country's first death from the new outbreak of the deadly virus.
She had contact with South Korea's first patient, 68-year-old man who contracted the virus when on a business trip in Bahrain but is still receiving hospital treatment.
The second fatality is a 71-year-old man, who had been on respiratory support with a history of kidney ailments.
South Korea has reported 25 cases of MERS since its first case on May 20.
More than 680 people who had close contact with the patients, such as relatives and medical staff, have now been put in quarantine as officials try to stop the spread of the deadly disease.
The new outbreak of MERS saw British patients tested.
Authorities in the Middle East are being urged to do more to stop the infection spreading between camels, which then pass it on to humans.
MERS – also dubbed camel flu – has been spreading among those in the region since it was first discovered in 2012.
While the majority of cases have been recorded in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Ermirates and surrounding nations, cases have also been reported in Britain, France, Holland, Austria and Italy, with a Briton tested as recently as three weeks ago.
Starting off as flu-like symptoms, victims can then suffer pneumonia and kidney failure, and nearly 40 per cent of those contaminated end up dying.

拒絕貪污 FIFA Corruption

Fifa President Sepp Blatter was placed under criminal investigation by Swiss(1) authorities on Friday as a probe(2) into soccer corruption reached the highest levels and left his grip on the top job in peril(3).
The Swiss attorney(4) general's office opened proceedings(5) against Blatter for possible criminal mismanagement and misappropriation of FIFA money. Authorities also searched Blatter's office and seized data.
The announcements came as FIFA wrapped up(6) a two-day executive committe(7) meeting and marked another stunning day of turmoil(8) for the governing body and Blatter, who have been targeted by American and Swiss investigations into corruption.
This comes after 14 Fifa executives and officials were arrested in dawn raids by Swiss police at the request of the US government in May 2015.
It was part of an ongoing investigation into corruption at Fifa which concerns racketeering(9), wire fraud(10) and money laundering over the course of 24 years.
Those arrested include Rafael Esquivel, Nicolas Leoz, Jeffrey Webb, Jack Warner, Eduardo Li, Eugenio Figueredo and Jose Maria Marin .
At a press briefing following the arrests, US attorney general Loretta Lynch said: "The indictment(11) alleges(12) corruption that is rampant(13), systemic and deep-rooted," said US attorney general Loretta Lynch.
"It spans(14) at least two generations of soccer officials who, as alleged, have abused their positions of trust to acquire millions of dollars in bribes and kickbacks(15)."
In addition, a criminal investigation into how the 2018 and 2022 World Cups were awarded has also begun.
These investigations are the latest development in a timeline of the World football's governing body that has been dogged by allegations of corruption following a 2010 exposé relating to the World Cup bidding process.
Three days after being re-elected Sepp Blatter resigned as Fifa president amid a widening corruption scandal(16) and promised to call for fresh elections to choose a successor.
